Norman Mapeza, suspended Warriors coach rebuked journalists at the
giant National Sports Stadium last Saturday for jostling to interview
Benjani Mwaruwari and his friends just after the final whistle of his
Testimonial Match instead of giving him (Mapeza) attention as he was
here to stay,
After seeing that an “army” of print and broadcast journalists were
flying past him – as if he was non-existent – to hook up with
international football icon that include Nwanku Kanu and Diofu, Mapeza
lashed out: “Muchatitsvaga, ava varikuendaka ava (You shall look for us.
Those international football stars are leaving, so don’t shun us).”
Journalists that were privileged to hear Mapeza desperately crying
for attention did not give in but burst into laughter, proceeding with
their noble mission.
In a related matter football, the Senior National Soccer Team –
Warriors – have trouped into camp for the 2014 World Cup qualifying
campaign against Guinea in a Group D tie at the giant National Sports
Stadium Sunday but seeking sanctuary at a strange cantonment area –
Phandari Lodge.
All national teams’ business is presided over by ZIFA and only last
week, Number 53 Livingstone Avenue was the home of rib-snapping drama
with the same host – Phandari Lodge – confiscating furniture and other
movable property to recover their dues amounting to almost $80 000 in
full view of the media.
Gallant question: “What has motivated ZIFA to take the Warriors to
Phandari Lodge or to once again give business to a lodge that once
shamed them in public.”
Although arguments can be advanced that ZIFA’s credit rating is
alarmingly poor and for a fact all hotels in the Cresta Group have put a
bad debtor label on the soccer motherboard, options were still wide for
them to check in the Warriors at an alternative venue.
Latest information has it that another sizeable number of creditors
are planning to once again swoop on ZIFA to confiscate the left-overs to
recover their dues with the Avondale-based Zodwa Mtunzi’s Traverze
taking the lead.
Inside sources at ZIFA say Traverze has also been incensed by an
unusual change of heart of the soccer motherboard wherein it titled the
bowl of business to a competitor – LED Travel agent – under unclear
circumstances yet they owe them a fortune.
LED is also the owner of Phandari Lodge*

Twine Phiri: Allegedly enslaving his workers
Thursday May 17, 2012
• Six bulls in the Green Machine’s technical cockpit crash-land CAPS United
Twine Phiri, co-director of CAPS United has been caught offside amid reports that he has – for months – not been paying his workers of the Southerton-based Montagu Investments, cheap labour that has torched a storm with critics on matters welfare, .
In a move that has the propensity to prick the ire of the late Sungura icon SystemTazvida to an extent that he is “turning” in his grave as he created immortality for himself for championing the cause of the worker, Phiri, who struggled to produce accreditation cards for sports journos – the simplest task that a CEO of an elite soccer board can “never” fail to deliver before the inception of the season – is allegedly persistently using workers without paying them their dues and their families are now living in a state of abject starvation.
Montagu Investments has three companies in its armpits – Highveld Bearings, Auto Parts and Lee’s Imports and Exports.
Recently, Phiri moonlighted at the Metropolitan Bank, baying for a loan to fund the operations of the troubled premiership side CAPS United.
Important lesson for any football administrator: “Never finance football from a bank loan in the Zimbabwe set up.”
Phiri was not reachable for a comment by the time of going public.
Meanwhile, seismic confusion and administrative own goals have become the norm with CAPS United co-directors Farai Jere and Twine – in their “wisdom” or lack of it – saw it fit to employ six coaches in their technical department, the source of untold blips and blunders that have driven the wedge into the coffin of the club.
Controversially appointed Irish head coach Sean Connor commands his coaching quota while the distraught lieutenant Lloyd Chitembwe also bucks instructions from the touchline to the same boys in green.
Not outdone is also Richard Tswatswa, goalkeepers’ coach also force-throating instructions to the same chunk of boys while Baba Vagari A.K.A Brenna Msiska also flaunts his gusto in the same technical department.
Former warrior Joel Luphahla is also in the grotesque picture of the same technical department together with Kennedy Nagoli, pooling the number of CAPS United coaches to six, a loaded structure that is only obtainable in the Green Machine stable to its peril.
The wanton symptoms of their confusion have degenerated into shunting CAPS United to position 11 in a league of 16 teams. To date, it has won only 2 matches, registered 2 draw matches and was beaten in 3 matches.
CAPS United has in total scored only 5 goals and allowed 6 goals into its net.
Meanwhile, a reliable source privy to the defense mechanism of Sean Connor says should CAPS United decide to show him the exit, they should brace themselves for lawsuits that fall from trees like leaves and they would have to pay him for the whole season.
Unconfirmed reports say Connor has been given shares in CAPS United, the development that makes it difficult to show him the exit. He is now one of the directors and it needs a board meeting to take stern action against him.
This publication once permeated one of the CAPS United training sessions and overheard skillful midfielder Marvel Samaneka echoing “Who brought a farmer (Sean Connor) into the rank and file of CAPS United.”
Most CAPS United players have allegiance to Lloyd Chitembwe and they are pulling strings to infuriate Jere and Phiri to turn the hit against Sean Connor to pave the way for Lodza.
Only time will tell*
More on Monica n Divha
A shoal of CAPS United fans last week assaulted David Kutyauripo,
former son of the “Green Machine” over a
perennially-controversial-mistress Monica Chikasha who is allegedly now
seeing a Boomerang-based money changer, Real Soccer Investigating Unit
can exclusively reveal.
According to sources in the know of how the fiasco ensued, Kutyauripo, after having gotten wind that a Bommerang-based money changer had stolen the heart of Monica and the duo was living in fantasyland, allegedly made advances to challenge the “snatcher” of his “soul-mate” and now being a Dynamos son, hordes of CAPS United faithfuls allegedly ganged up and meted out street justice to the hapless player at the giant National Sports Stadium after the Green Machine (3) – Money Bags (1).
Monica is infamous for her “Sele” dances in the CAPS United City-End bay at Rufaro stadium where she carelessly flaunts her assets to all and sundry when the Green Machine is in action.
This is not the first time that Monica has caused a stir as four seasons back, two bulls – David Kutyauripo and Method Mwanjali - once engaged in dog-fight over her, the clash that saw the players not cooperating in the field of play as a sign of permanent feuds over the grey area.
Each time Kutyauripo received a pass from Mwanjali, he evaded it and the reverse also used to happen and CAPS United lost a lot of chances without the technical bench noticing it.
Reason: “When Method was left in the custody of Monica by Kutyauripo, he pried into the illegal zone and helped himself to his friend’s territory.”
However, impeccable sources say Monica and Kutyauripo have never been legally married and had all along been cohabiting, the position that was once confirmed by CAPS United son, Marvel Samaneka to this publication.
In a related matter football, prodical son Kutyauripo is contemplating rejoining CAPS United as he is allegedly having a tough time with Callisto Pasuwa, Dynamos coach.
Sources say “Diva Dollar” is close to sending his emissaries to CAPS United director Farai Jere for a “truce” for him to be accepted back into the “Green Machine” fold*

CHITEMBWE RELIEVED...
:• Rahman Gumbo upset...
• Kutsanzira’s special birthday present
By Chipo Sabeta
CAPS United assistant manager Lloyd Chitembwe says he is a relieved man after thrashing FC Platinum 3-1 at NSS last week.
The miners were totally outclassed by the Green Machine throughout the game giving Makepekepe three consecutive wins.
The ecstatic coach finally spoke to H-Metro, “I am more than happy today.
“It’s not because we managed to beat FC platinum but because we collected three points we really needed.
“I never prepared for this game in a different manner.
“It was like facing any other opponent in the premiership.
It was the same preparation I did when I was facing Quelaton and Blue Rangers
“There was nothing special about them.
“It’s important that we are getting positive results after going through a rough patch.
“I am also happy with my colleague, Sean Connor and I pray that such a fine run will bind us together.
“Many people played dirty tricks behind our back.
“We won’t be carried away and will continue to concentrate on our forthcoming games.
“I must also salute the boys for playing as a team and listening to instructions.
“Rahman had a good game and he gave himself a special birthday present by scoring the double whilst Washington Pakamisa also deserves special mention,” he said.
Meanwhile, FC Platinum coach Rahman Gumbo was upset.
“It was not our day.
“The boys did not play their normal game and it cost us.
“The game was worsened by many delaying tactics from Caps through their ball boys but such is football.
“I am really upset because there are no points for a loss.
“But we will rise again,” he said.
Rahman Kutsanzira, who scored either side of the half dedicated his two birthday goals to his mother.
“It’s a special birthday present for me.
“I am turning 24 tomorrow (Friday).
“We also share the same month with my mother and the other goal is for her,” he said.
